Raymond D. Neoh
Founder and Director, CGGE Group, Father of China's CG Industry
Mr. Raymond Neoh is a veteran entrepreneur and a pioneer in the digital media and education sectors, widely recognized as the "Father of China's CG Industry." He was the Producer of Thru the Moebius Strip (2005), China's first feature-length CG-animated film.
In 2000, Mr. Neoh co-founded Global Digital Creations Holdings Limited (8271.HK), establishing the Neoh brothers as pioneers in China's CG animation industry. Over two decades ago, when only a handful of companies worldwide possessed the capability for full-process CG film production, Global Digital Creations was one such trailblazing company. Known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of China's animation industry, Global Digital Creations has trained over 10,000 media professionals for the nation's digital content sector to date.
In 2009, with funding from the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, Mr. Neoh established the Institute for Digital Game Technology (IDGT) at Nanyang Technological University to cultivate future leaders for Asia's digital economy. Under Mr. Neoh's guidance, IDGT graduates distinguished themselves in the industry, producing the off-road racing game Baja: Edge of Control. In 2010, at the Shanghai World Expo, the 3D game was experienced by prominent leaders, including then-member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Li Changchun; then-Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Wang Yang; and Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong.
Mr. Neoh founded CGGE Group with the mission of imparting knowledge, cultivating skills, and developing open tools and core technologies for digital economy talent. CGGE Group has established academic partnerships with institutions such as Harbin Institute of Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen University, which power its research and development efforts, to build the “Creative Intelligence Economy” and the Global Computer Graphics Production Standard (GCGPS). The Group has also established a partnership with the Blender Foundation, Penpot by Kaleidos, and Godot Foundation to promote open-source tool development and digital skills transfer in Asia.
